Wassup! Thanks for checking out the Jazzadelica website.
For those of you new to the site, I'm DJ Rocky Rococo, a purveyor of fine jazzadelica to the San Francisco Bay Area since 1998. From 1998 to 2000, I hosted a weekly radio program by that name on KFJC, 89.7 FM, and still make the occasional guest appearance on the KFJC airwaves. I've also DJ'ed at clubs in San Francisco and San Jose, and done some writing for music publications.
The main purpose of this site is to champion the jazzier side of dance music. If you've ever listened to a DJ like Gilles Peterson or flipped through an issue of Straight No Chaser magazine, then you've got a pretty good idea of the musical agenda. But if that doesn't provide a clue, check out some of the top ten lists and record reviews here on the site for a sampling of the music I cover. Within the site you can also find my radio playlists, plus news on upcoming Bay Area gigs that might be of interest.
One of the questions I'm most often asked is "where are your radio shows archived?" Unfortunately, due to the copyright and royalty issues involved with webcasting, I am unable to offer any archived shows online at this time.
I also maintain an email list for playlists, reviews, and notices of upcoming appearances.
If you'd like to subscribe to the email list, or have any questions or comments on the Jazzadelica
website, please write to me at rococo@jazzadelica.com.
Thanks! - DJ Rocky Rococo
